PRESS RELEASE: SCOTT NOLTE RECEIVES 2025 JIM HALL OUTSTANDING ALUMNI AWARD
ESTHERVILLE, IOWA (May 9, 2025) The Iowa Lakes Community College Alumni & Friends Association presented Scott Nolte with the 2025 Jim Hall Outstanding Alumni Award during the college’s Commencement ceremony on Friday, May 9, in Estherville.
Nolte joins the ranks of Iowa Lakes graduates who have demonstrated exceptional dedication to their communities, careers, and service organizations while serving as positive role models. The Jim Hall Outstanding Alumni Award, established in 1992, honors individuals who exemplify the spirit and values of Iowa Lakes Community College.
Deb Weston, treasurer of the Alumni & Friends Association Board, presented Nolte with the award, which memorializes Jim Hall — a 1968 Iowa Lakes graduate, former assistant football coach at the college, and lifelong supporter of the institution.
A native of Storm Lake, Nolte graduated from Storm Lake High School in 1997 and earned his associate in arts degree in broadcasting from Iowa Lakes in 1999. He later received a Bachelor of Science degree in mass communication from Buena Vista University in 2001.
Nolte lives in Spencer with his wife, Tina, and their children: Jasmin, Emma, Harper, and Kinnick. He serves as the sports director and an on-air personality for KUOO, Q102, and Y100 radio stations, where he has worked since August 2006.
An active community member, Nolte has served on his church board in Spencer, volunteered with the Iowa Great Lakes Chamber of Commerce for Winter Games and Fourth of July celebrations, and provided music and DJ services for Upper Des Moines Music Bingo Nights. He is a regular emcee at local events, including the Iowa Lakes Athletics Hall of Fame banquet each February, and often serves as the public address announcer at Iowa Lakes basketball games.
Nolte’s passion lies in covering the journeys of student-athletes, having reported from major venues across the state such as the UNI-Dome, Wells Fargo Arena, Principal Park, Rogers Sports Complex, Tyson Events Center, and both the University of Iowa and Iowa State University. For nearly two decades, he has traveled extensively to highlight high school and collegiate athletics in northwest Iowa.
Through his dedication to community involvement and support of student-athletes, Scott Nolte exemplifies the spirit of the Jim Hall Award. The Iowa Lakes Alumni & Friends Association proudly recognizes his contributions and congratulates him on this well-deserved honor.
