Last-Dollar Scholarship Program
What is the Last-Dollar Scholarship?
The Future-Ready Iowa Last-Dollar Scholarship was implemented to help support the State of Iowa's goal to have 70 percent of Iowans in the workforce having education or training beyond high school by 2025.
This goal will help provide Iowan's with many great career opportunities, and employers will have the skilled workforce they need to grow and innovate.
The Last-Dollar Scholarship Program helps students cover expenses related to attending college. As the name suggests, this scholarship opportunity may be awarded to qualifying students to close the gap between financial aid awards and the costs associated with attending college.
The Last-Dollar Scholarship is available to:
- Students who recently completed an Iowa high school diploma, a homeschool program, or high school equivalency diploma, OR students (age 20 and older)
- Complete a FAFSA Application.
- Enroll at least part-time in an eligible program of study
- Apply for all other available state and federal grants and scholarships
- Meet ongoing requirements
- Have an Student Aid Index (SAI) at or below $20,000
NOTICE: CHANGE TO LAST-DOLLAR SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
Recently, the State of Iowa legislature passed a bill that changed the eligibility of the Future Ready Iowa Last-Dollar Scholarship. Under this bill, students with an SAI above $20,000 will no longer be eligible to receive the Last-Dollar Scholarship during the 2024-25 academic year.
