iowa lakes scholarships FAQ's

Have questions? We have the answers.

Welcome to our Scholarship FAQ page! Here you’ll find answers to the most common questions about applying for scholarships through the Iowa Lakes Community College Foundation. If you don’t see your question listed, please don’t hesitate to contact our office

Who can apply for scholarships?

Scholarships are available to current and incoming Iowa Lakes students who plan to enroll in a credit-based program. In addition, a limited number of scholarships are available for students who are graduating from area high schools and plan to attend another college or university. Each scholarship has its own eligibility criteria, so we encourage all students to apply.

how do i apply for scholarships?

Students must complete the Iowa Lakes Scholarship Application. This single application matches you to all eligible scholarship opportunities—no need to fill out separate applications.

when is the scholarship application due?

Priority consideration is given to applications submitted by March 1 for the following academic year. Some scholarships may remain open after that date, but funding is limited, so we strongly encourage students to apply early.

how are scholarship recipients selected?

Selections are based on a variety of criteria, including academic performance, leadership, community involvement, financial need, and alignment with donor intent. A scholarship committee reviews all applications thoroughly.

can i receive more than one scholarship?

Yes. Many students receive more than one scholarship. Awards are determined based on eligibility and availability of funds.

Do I have to repay scholarship funds?

No. Scholarships are considered gift aid and do not need to be repaid; however, students must meet the terms of the scholarship (such as enrollment status or GPA requirements) to retain their award.

What happens if I drop a class or withdraw?

Scholarships may be adjusted or canceled if a student does not maintain full-time enrollment or meet other conditions. If you are considering a schedule change, contact Financial Aid before making changes.
